DOT Bureaucracy Causes Traffic and Pollution

Bronx Auto Transport

Many years ago I worked on a committee in the 38 billion dollar red state of California. We worked with the TMAs - Transportation Management Associations and tried to figure out ways to get people to car pool, which did not work all that well, but it worked a little which was good. Back in 1975 the air in CA was pretty bad, and would probably look like it does today in Mexico City had it not been for the volunteer efforts of many companies and the hard work of many solution providers. I cannot say I or anyone else in any of these committees made any major significant level of contribution. But I can say together everyone and every company did a little and that did a lot; especially in regions with temperature inversions and boxed in by mountain terrain.

If you look at the DC Salad Bowl (mixing bowl) "how about pollution bowl cluster muck?" you see a great opportunity for free parking, nothing moves everyone is stuck; construction abounds to add more lanes to the mess? Hmmm? Is this really a sign of all the brilliant minds running our country? Ouch, sorry George Mason, we have not been able to keep your vision of which there can be no excuse.

What is so funny is that the turnpikes have raised their fees by a little more than their standard amount this year. Why? They say the states need money and they need money to fix the roads? First of all the states need money because the small businesses are strapped for time to complete the days work to make enough money to pay taxes because of the grid lock caused by inconvenient on ramps, lack of on ramps, city street congestion caused by those who cannot afford to keep paying the toll, thus the small businesses make no money for which there is no income tax to be paid and they cannot hire additional labor so less people have jobs. But the DOT in CT for instance has built a beautiful "Screw You and Me" glass building with our money? What is going on here? And the roads are bumpy than ever and people at Comedy Central do nothing but makes jokes about it as if what really goes on during rush hour traffic is not enough of a joke.
