POR-15 and White Powder

Lees Summit Car Shipping

We get calls all of the time about the white stuff that is left after the Metal-Ready stage. People follow the instructions for applying POR-15. They get to the second step - allowing the Metal-Ready to saturate the surface for at least 20 minutes. They then rinse the Metal-Ready off with clean water and after the surface has dried, they have some flash rust and a white powdery substance left behind. And many called panicked. But there are no worries. The flash rust happens - POR-15 will adhere and you will never know. And the white powdery substance is the zinc phosphate that the Metal-Ready leaves behind. It aids in the adhesion of the POR-15. Both are good. They mean you have done well. Pat yourself on the back and continue on with the POR-15.
